Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Beauty as they say, is in the eye of the beholder and can be perceived in many different ways. Society places such high importance on aesthetic appearances, from flawless complexion to white teeth, plump lips, glossy flowing locks, false nails and a size 6 figure with an ample bosom – It is society that is obsessed with the physical beauty!

Is that what beauty is really all about?

Attraction comes in many shapes, sizes and forms; the physical aspect of a person, be it man or woman is only a small piece of the puzzle. The increase of very young people getting Botox and injectables is quite shocking to me, not only can it be addictive but it is totally unnecessary. Don’t get me wrong I never have been against injectables or fillers, I believe that if it makes an individual feel good about themselves then go for it – within reason.  The influence of many reality shows and celebrities put so much pressure on the younger generation to be accepted or attractive which in itself can lead to insecurities and depression.

I am so proud I have raised my daughter to love herself for who she is, how she looks and most importantly how she conducts herself. She has always had her own style – quirky, funky and carries it off with confidence. I was inspired to write this post actually from my hairdresser, a beautiful, vivacious, confident woman in her late twenties – covered in tattoos and piercings and has such charisma and oozing with personality. As I was sitting there having my hair done she explained to me that she  had to change a previous client to another stylist because in her words ‘the clients was closed and scared stiff’   she explained to her client that she was clearly feeling uncomfortable which in turn made my hairdresser uncomfortable. She then said that many assume she is unhealthy and aggressive just because she looks the way she does, well in fact she is uber healthy and a hard working mummy.

The way a person  carries themselves, they way they dress, their elegance, confidence, laughter, experiences, humility, intelligence,  interaction and compassion to others,  sense of humor,  kindness, graciousness and understanding are just a few things that, to me, make a person beautiful.

A truly beautiful individual is not one who is attractive on the outside but on the inside also, a persons outer beauty soon fades if the inner beauty does not match and it is within everyone’s grasp to become beautiful.

Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder – it is in our own minds eye! never rely on another person to make you feel beautiful that is a condition that should be bestowed upon us, not anyone else.

Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them.
